Briana is a graduate 0f Robert Morris University, where she received two degrees: A Bachelor of Science in Clinical and Sport Psychology and A Master of Science in Counseling Psychology. She is working toward full licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor. Briana views counseling as a collaborative process and tends to take a holistic approach. She has an integrative theoretical orientation, knowing that no two individuals or situations are alike.

While at RMU, she was a student-athlete and member of the Division I Softball team for four years. As a former Division I student-athlete, she understands the unique set of challenges, demands, and expectations of student-athletes as well as the stigma that can sometimes be attached to seeking mental health support. Briana specializes in working with student-athletes who want to seek assistance for their overall well-being or any mental health concerns, who experience injuries or trauma, and who want to optimize their sport performance by learning about their well-being. She wants to advocate for student-athletes’ psychological needs as well as to bridge the gap for mental health support. Although her primary interest is working with student-athletes, she wants to provide support for all people.

Briana works at Washington & Jefferson College as a Campus Mental Health Care Coordinator and Staff Counselor where she provides short-term and long-term mental health counseling to students. She has counseled individuals with mental health issues including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, ADHD, drug and alcohol use, grief, relationship issues, performance issues, trauma, perfectionism, and academic issues.

Therapy Dog

The Staff

Our therapy dog Brutus. He is very caring and compassionate with his own unique trauma story. He was abandoned and left to fend for himself during a hurricane in Louisiana. We/he was fortunate he had his own angels. An incredible couple who went to Louisiana to help with the cleanup came to his rescue. When they noticed him rummaging for food, they tried to approach him. He was hungry, injured, and terrified. They had to bribe him for five days before he finally trusted them. They took him to the vet for his injuries to be treated and to see if they could find his owners. They were unable to locate his owners, so they fostered him and eventually he ended up on an adoption website. That is where his current humans found him. He currently endures triggers of thunderstorms and very windy days and does have to take medication for his anxiety. Brutus has thrived with the compassion of all the humans in his current life. He is such an amazing, smart, and compassionate dog that his humans decided to see if he could become a therapy dog. He went through approximately eleven months of training and testing to be AKC registered, even though he is not pure bred. He is a registered therapy dog with Therapy Dogs United.
